Visit Hadimba Temple to get spiritual power


Commonly known as the Hadimba Temple, this spiritual site is located in Manali. Very few of us know that its actual name is Hidimbi Devi Temple devoted to Hidimbi sister of demon Hidimba a character in Mahabharata. It is a great spiritual site in Manali and people keeps strong faith and celebrates festivals like Dhungari Mela. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest in the Himalayas. It was constructed in 1553 over a huge rock and usually witnesses a number of pilgrims who comes to seek blessing of Goddess.
  
The temple was built in a cave where Hidimbi used to performed meditation and you can get clue from the footprints of the Goddess Hidimbi. She was supposed to live here with her brother Hidimb and wished to marry one who could defeat her brother Hidimb (He was very strong and powerful). As per the Mahabharata, Pandava visited the place and Bhima (one of the brother of Pandava) defeated Hidimb. Quickly she fell in love with Bhima, they married and she gave birth of Ghatotkacha.  A different and interesting thing about the temple is its roof, which is shaped like a four – tiered Pagoda.

The temple is very popular in this hill station and one of the very old cave temple located in the middle of the Dhungiri Van Vihar.
